Nepal Human Rights filmfest to screen 4 Iranian titles

The 6th edition of the Nepal Human Rights International Film Festival (NHRIFF) has scheduled to screen four Iranian titles.

The NHRIFF will screen 'Compatriot' directed by Mahtab Soleimani, 'Release from Heaven' directed by Ali Nouri-Oskouei, 'Pink' directed by Mahboubeh Mohammadzaki and 'It Rains Slowly' directed by Saeed Nejati, all from Iran.

The 25-minute ‘Compatriot’ is a documentary about an Afghan refugee who finds himself forced to leave his county and take refuge in Iran at the start of the war with the Soviets.

The documentary has been qualified for the 2018 edition of the World Wide Women’s Film Festival to be held in the US state of Arizona from February 9 to 10.

The 76-minute 'Release from Heaven' is an animation set in a war-torn country where a female teacher and comic writer lives with her students in a boarding school. To calm horrified children who have no hope in the terrifying world, she keeps telling them a story every night; stories about her childhood imaginary hero who has become a part of her life.

The movie has also grabbed several best animation awards from different international events in Italy, Canada, Hong Kong, Portugal, the US, France, India, and the UK.

Produced in Turkey, the 15-minute ‘It Rains Slowly’ tells the story of some school students in the 1980s who intended to help their teacher.

The 5-minute animation 'Pink' is a slice of a woman’s life and routine with breast cancer in the technological world. She tries to overcome the disease resorting to hope.

The NHRIFF has been founded as a forum for advocating human rights via films. The festival is dedicated to the vulnerable communities who are historically backward in Nepal.

The 6th edition of the NHRIFF is slated for March 7-10, 2018.
